Hamm celebrates 800 years with festival-packed anniversary weekends!

A very special event will be celebrated in Hamm in 2026: the city will be 800 years old! To mark this milestone birthday, a big festival weekend will take place in the picturesque Kurhausgarten from July 24th to 26th, 2026. The anticipation is already palpable, because there will be a colorful program that has something in store for everyone.

Everything starts on July 24, 2026Kurparkfest, which will have a very special concert character. The first Friday in July features live performances on a stage, although details of the bands and artists have yet to be announced. The next day, July 25, 2026, the event will continue with a highlight:On the program is a pop festival where the Petra band will create a great atmosphere. An impressive parade will then take the event to the Kurhausgarten.

Family day as the crowning conclusion

TheFamily dayThe festival will round off on July 26, 2026 and will be held as an independent concept this year. Here, young and old can experience a whole day full of fun and attractions - and the best part? Entry is free! Visitors can look forward to numerous activities suitable for the whole family.

The city of Hamm is also planning to increase the entrance fees for theKurparkfestand “KapelleSomma” to be kept moderate. Advance sales for the concerts are scheduled to start in July 2026, while advance sales for the Kurparkfest will begin shortly afterwards.

Citizen participation: suggestions welcome

To creatively design the anniversary, the city is launching a competition for special contributions. Citizens are invited to submit their suggestions. No matter whether clubs, kindergartens, school classes or neighborhoods – everyone is warmly invited to become part of the festival! The minimum requirement for participation is that two people from different households register. The deadline for submitting ideas runs from October 1st to November 15th, 2025. The prizes are between 800 and 2026 euros, which will be increased to a total of 50,000 euros, subject to the approval of the Council on July 8th, 2025.

The celebrations in Hamm are reminiscent of the recent celebrations in Pulsnitz, where a parade under the motto “Pulsnitz – that is us” took place in May 2025. Over 1,300 participants took part in the great spectacle, which included musical performances and a medieval market. Here too, the city administration warmly thanked the residents and participants for their commitment.

Both the upcoming festival in Hamm and the past celebrations in Pulsnitz show how lively and committed the community in the cities is. It will be exciting to see how the anniversary will be organized in Hamm and what creative ideas the citizens will bring in. One thing is certain: it will be a celebration for the whole city!
