Johannesschule in Bockum-Hövel: student record delights parents!
A lot is happening at primary schools in the Bockum-Hövel district. There are currently 1,560 children attending the local educational institutions, and the Johannesschule has reached an impressive ten-year high with 388 students. This is what our colleagues report calf. Overall, the schools in Hamm are teaching 26,079 students in the current 2024/25 school year, although the number of students has fallen by 129 compared to the previous year. However, an interesting trend can be observed in primary schools: While the number of students there is increasing, things are rather different in secondary schools. There are declining trends here.
At the same time, demand for school care services remains high. Currently, 4,257 students in Hamm are being looked after on an open, full-day basis. A further increase is expected from the 2026/27 school year due to the existing legal right to an OGS place. This leads to exciting developments, as eight primary schools in Hamm, including the Von Vincke School, are already planned for expansions and renovations.
