A tragic accident made headlines in Mönchengladbach on June 19th. At around 4 p.m. there was a fatal collision between a 23-year-old motorcyclist from Dorthausen and a NEW bus that was traveling from Kothausen. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in the collision and could not be saved despite immediate resuscitation attempts by first aiders and rescue workers; he died at the scene of the accident. Fortunately, the passengers and the driver of the bus were uninjured, as Heinsberg-Magazin reports.
The exact course of the accident is still unclear and is now being investigated in detail by the traffic commissioner of the Mönchengladbach police. The investigators are supported by a specially trained accident team from the Kleve district police authority. To clarify the course of the accident, several fire and rescue service vehicles were deployed, including an emergency response vehicle, an rescue vehicle, an ambulance and an emergency medical vehicle. A rescue helicopter was alerted, but was not used.

In order to record the accident, Gladbacher Strasse between Dorthausen and Rheindahlen and Groterather Strasse from Viehstrasse had to be closed for several hours. Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the police on 02161 290 to help clarify the circumstances of the accident.
