HammStars: Double defeats! Where has the throwing power gone?

The HammStars suffered two bitter defeats in the 1st Basketball Regional League last weekend. On Friday evening they lost to SV Haspe with 88:96 and on Sunday they lost on home soil against BBG Herford with 73:87. How calf reported that the disappointing result in front of 250 spectators in the Märkisches Gymnasium was the result of a tense situation in the team.

TuS head coach Ivan Rosic's team had to do without players Enrique Serra Bachs and Rafail Totska. They also decided to take their US players out of the game, which further reduced the already strained rotation. Rosic said that her team could only compete with a small number of players, which had a negative impact on their performance.

Observations on the game against Herford

The HammStars initially got off to a promising start in the game against Herford. Marcel Kirsch gave his team a 20:19 lead in the first quarter. But even though they went into halftime with a narrow lead of 41:40, the third quarter made their hopes of a win dwindle. Herford took advantage of the HammStars' weaknesses and pulled ahead to 52:63 by the end of the third quarter.

Cameron Terrell Kahn and Mateja Basic were the players who decisively helped Herford win: Kahn scored 25 points, while Basic contributed 16 points. In the final phase, the HammStars managed to reduce the difference somewhat, but could not ignore the weak three-point rate of just 26 percent. Rosic explained that an improvement in the throwing rate is urgently needed in order to be successful in the coming games.

Given these challenges, it will be crucial for the HammStars to develop new strategy and strengthen team dynamics. What happens next for the team remains to be seen, but the next challenge certainly won't be any easier. Current events clearly show that there is an urgent need for action if we don't want to run behind too often.
