Charitable huts at the Herner Christmas market: Apply now!
It will be contemplative again this year in Herne! The Christmas market not only offers traditional treats and a festive atmosphere, but also offers the opportunity for non-profit organizations to present themselves and their projects. The initiative of Herner city marketing and the ASB regional association Herne/Gelsenkirchen ensure that up to two charitable huts are set up. Applications for these huts are possible from local associations and institutions that are socially committed until Monday, October 13th at the latest.
The charitable huts have been enriching the Christmas market in Herne for over ten years. Here, anyone interested can purchase individually made Christmas decorations, artistic woodwork, hand-knitted socks and many other creative products, the proceeds of which go to a good cause. “The Christmas market will open on November 13th,” reveals project manager Tina Dzierla, who reports on the lively interest in the huts.
An important date for non-profit organizations
The huts are located at Bahnhofstrasse 52, in the immediate vicinity of “Blume 2000” and “Wolsdorff”. Last year, around 17 clubs and charitable institutions took part in this format. “Despite the pandemic situation, the influx was strong,” explains Dzierla and encourages other institutions to contribute their ideas.
The conditions for participation are simple: the huts must be occupied during the opening hours of the Christmas market. These are Monday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to at least 7 p.m.; the market is closed on Sundays. On other opening days, the huts are open from 10 a.m. and offer space for the applicants' creative engagement.
A small contribution, big impact
The provision fee is 15 euros per rental day, plus VAT - this includes heating costs, while the electricity costs are covered by city marketing. Depending on demand, a minimum of 29 and a maximum of 64 appointments will be made. Fridays and Saturdays are particularly in demand, which is why applications for weekdays increase the chances of getting the desired dates.
If there are several applicants for the same day, the draw will decide. It is important to send your application informally to city marketing by email or post. This initiative not only promotes exchange between non-profit organizations and the public, but also brings the essential Christmas spirit into the hearts of Herners.
The charitable huts are not only a beautiful sight, but also an important part of the Christmas market in Herne. Become part of this tradition and apply for one of the coveted huts!
