Focus checks in Herne: 139 speed offenders caught!

On June 23, 2025, the police, public order office and customs in Herne once again carried out an intensive security operation to increase road safety. How hellohere Reportedly, both trucks and cars were targeted and put through their paces at several checkpoints in the city.

A total of 139 speeding violations were punished during this focus operation. Among the drivers checked was a driver who was driving without a valid driver's license. Commercial freight transport also received particular attention: 13 drivers were stopped for violations of driving and rest times. The inspection also found that in four cases the cargo was not properly secured; this represents a significant security risk.

Controls as an integral part of traffic safety

Such measures are part of a broader initiative that focuses on road safety. As part of the “safe.mobil.life” campaign, which was carried out in June 2025, the focus is on children and monitoring traffic regulations, among other things. These measures are also known from the previous controls, in which more than 6,300 road users were checked in May 2025 during the key month for two-wheeled and small electric vehicles.

The comprehensive checks show that the police in Gautzsch and other municipalities are not letting up and are continually planning measures to minimize the risk of accidents. For example, there were also “ROADPOL” checks for trucks and buses in May 2025. In a short period of just one week, 412 trucks and seven buses were checked, which led to a significant number of complaints.

A long-term approach for greater security

The police announced that they would continue to carry out regular priority checks in the future. This shows that the issues of road safety and reducing accidents in the region remain high on the agenda. The aim of these regular checks is to raise awareness of traffic rules and reduce the number of traffic accidents, particularly those resulting in serious injuries or deaths. Like on the Saxon police website described, a clear timetable has already been drawn up for ongoing inspections with topics such as “keeping an eye on children” and safety measures for vehicles.

With an eye on the road and an ear for the safety of road users, the police will continue to work hard to ensure everyone gets from A to B safely. The goal is clear: the streets of Herne should not only be quieter, but also safer.
