Höxter is on the verge of new developments: Huxarium and garden show attract tourists!

The mood in Höxter is currently promising, even if there are some challenges in the political discussion. There are currently unpaid invoices that have to be paid by the successor company “Huxarium Gartenpark Höxter gGmbH”. But like that Westphalia sheet reported that there is sometimes a lack of the necessary resources to meet these obligations. The city of Höxter is in demand here and is already planning how the situation can be eased.

But the difficulties contrast with the region's upswing, which is becoming visible under the aegis of the State Horticultural Show. Since the opening of the garden show in Höxter, one can speak of a true “Höxteran summer fairy tale”, as managing director Jan Sommer aptly put it. There are now almost 350,000 visitors, and the goal of 400,000 guests can still be achieved in the coming days. The boost for Höxter couldn't be better, as was the case Steinheim News reproduces succinctly.

A new face for Höxter

An important building block in Höxter's attractiveness is the newly designed Huxarium garden park. The garden park is called “Huxarium” and, in addition to flowering plants that provide a colorful picture throughout the different seasons, also offers an archaeological course that makes the sunken city of Corvey within reach. An expansion of the park is planned with an additional live excavation, and a beekeeper's garden and a colorful classroom will also be retained municipal website informed.

From 2024, the Remtergarten at Corvey Castle will bloom in similar splendor as during the garden show, with planting based on a historic monastery garden. This not only pleases local nature lovers, but also the sparsely visited shops in the city center. They can benefit from the large number of visitors and new records have already been set with over 36,000 season tickets sold.

A program with a lot of momentum

The events are also a hit. From festivals like the Asparagus Festival to music events and the light and laser show “LightArt 2023 – Höxter shines” they attract the crowds. Mayor Daniel Hartmann sees the Huxarium as an attractive travel destination for the Weserbergland region. The coming year also offers high expectations with a program of events that appeals to the entire population and also tourists.

The prices for season tickets are kept moderate at 50 euros (reduced 40 euros), as are children, who have free entry. Tickets for the coming season will be available online from December 3rd. The crowd is big; More and more visitors are drawn not only to the events, but also to the Höxteran restaurants and shops, which are well frequented.

With a new sense of unity and the support of volunteers from the support association, the Huxarium Garden Park is becoming a living model for the entire region. Despite financial discussions, local politicians are behind this major project and see the beautiful city center of Höxter continuing to grow.
