Rotary clubs bring new Advent calendar for social purposes!

It's hard to imagine the pre-Christmas season without them: the Advent calendars of the Rotary Clubs in the Kleve district. On October 18th, the Rotary Clubs Kleve Schloss Moyland, Kevelaer and Geldern will start selling their coveted calendars. With a total circulation of 4,000 copies and a price of 10 euros each, the calendars not only promise joy, but also support numerous social projects.

Last year the clubs were able to raise around 30,000 euros for charitable purposes, and this year the organizers hope to exceed this amount. A special highlight of the wreath is the calendar image, which was designed by the talented Klever draftsman and painter Andrea Lattorf. From December 1st there will be between 6 and 8 prizes worth at least 100 euros every day - from vouchers for money to non-cash prizes to wellness vouchers.

Social commitments in focus

The proceeds from the sale will benefit several organizations. The earnings are distributed, among other things, to food banks in the northern district and in Kevelaer, the Geldern child protection clinic, the FASD Germany organization and the construction of a school in a developing country. There is also a part that is planned for a current emergency situation. So every purchase becomes a small contribution to a better community.

But the voluntary work of the Rotary Clubs goes far beyond the Advent calendar. According to a survey by the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, Rotary and Rotaract clubs in Germany are responsible for around 7,000 social projects annually, which corresponds to an average financial performance of around 32 million euros. Each club carries out around six projects per year, tirelessly providing around 177,000 hands-on hours and underlining Rotary's central goal: to promote community service both locally and internationally. In fact, the total output without Corona restrictions could even be 38.7 million euros.

Where are the calendars?

So, where can you purchase these charitable Advent calendars? The following sales outlets have been set up in the southern district of Kleve: Bücher Keuck in Geldern, Radio Schönell in Sevelen, Issumer Blumenzauber in Issum and several branches of Sparkasse Rhein-Maas. In the northern district, however, the calendars are available in the Hintzen bookstore, at various Hagebaumarkt Swertz locations and in the Mayersche Völcker bookstore in Goch. Those interested are welcome to visit the Bedburg-Hau municipal administration or one of the numerous bakeries.

Overall, it shows: Advent calendars not only have charm, but also make a difference. They build anticipation for the holidays while doing good for the community. Support this initiative and secure one of the coveted calendars!
