Füchse Berlin and SC Magdeburg: Promising German final!

The EHF Champions League once again kept the sports world on tenterhooks, and the Lanxess Arena in Cologne was the epicenter of the action. The eagerly awaited Final Four took place on June 14th and 15th, 2025, with four top teams fighting for the title. The Füchse Berlin and SC Magdeburg represented the German colors, while HBC Nantes from France and FC Barcelona from Spain also appeared in the arena. As Wettbasis reported, the teams fought exciting duels that captivated handball enthusiasts until the last minute.

In the first semi-final, the Füchse Berlin made it to the final against HBC Nantes. With an impressive 34:24 win, they showed an outstanding team performance, with the top scorer Tim Freihöfer shining with ten goals. The downer in this game was the red card for Mathias Gidsel, but that didn't stop the Berliners from leaving the pitch as winners. This comeback to the final round is special for the Füchse as they have not been represented in the Final Four since 2012 - back then they took fourth place.

Barcelona meets Magdeburg

In the second semi-final there was a real thriller between FC Barcelona and SC Magdeburg. Barcelona, who can look back on an impressive 21st semi-final appearance, wanted revenge for last year's defeat against Magdeburg. But the Magdeburgers were confident and managed to defeat the Catalans 31:30, which represents a historic moment for the team. After eleven years it was once again a German-German final - a real treat for the handball fans in Cologne.

The elimination was painful for Barcelona, especially since the team has to look for new talent: there are ten departures in the summer that will shake up the squad. Regardless, the title remains the goal, as a fourth EHF Champions League trophy in just five years would be a dream.

The final and the broadcasts

The grand final between Füchsen Berlin and SC Magdeburg will take place on June 15th at 6:00 p.m. An exciting game that many fans are looking forward to. The game for third place between the losers of the semi-finals will kick off at 3:00 p.m. All games can be seen live on free TV on DF1 and can alternatively be followed in the live stream on DAZN and DYN, as Olympics reports.

The betting odds have now also changed like this: For the duel between the Foxes and Nantes, the odds for a win for the Berliners are 1.22, while HBC Nantes is considered an outsider at 3.95. In the encounter between FC Barcelona and SC Magdeburg, the field of favorites is also defined: a victory for the Catalans is estimated at 1.50, the Magdeburgers have the chances on their side at 2.45.

The anticipation for the final is great. The Magdeburgers are ready to fight for their first title, while the Füchse Berlin will try to crown their return to the spotlight with the championship title. Handball fever is back in Cologne - a festival that the city will remember for a long time. A real handball event that you simply cannot miss!
