Cologne celebrates: cultural project Take a seat” starts at Neumarkt!

A touch of culture will soon blow over the Neumarkt in Cologne again! After a year-long break, the popular cultural project “Take a Seat” returns to offer Cologne residents and everyone interested in the art scene a varied program. The official opening will take place on Wednesday, July 9th at 4:30 p.m. under the motto “Culture for All”, and Mayor Henriette Reker will personally introduce the event.

The program runs until September 5th and offers a colorful potpourri of events every day. In addition to concerts, there will also be short film screenings, readings as part of the “Cologne Literature Summer” and numerous participation opportunities for children and young people. Particularly worth mentioning is the yellow art pavilion, designed by Cologne artist Erika Hock, which acts as a central event location and offers many creative possibilities. A varied program for everyone

The program is not only free, but also accessible without registration, so anyone can join at any time. In addition to well-known artists such as soprano Anna Moog and the magician Connar Schlüter, new faces such as Janosch Pugnaghi and Thomas Bartling are also expected, who will bring a breath of fresh air into the event with special formats. A highlight will certainly be the daily reading series from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., which takes place during the “Cologne Literature Summer”.

The programming is carried out in close cooperation with the Cologne cultural scene, including the Cologne Academy of Media Arts and the Cologne University of Music and Dance. This collaborative effort will ensure there is something for all tastes and ages. The city of Cologne emphasizes that great value is placed on low-threshold accessibility so that culture can be experienced by everyone.

In addition, some improvements were made to the Neumarkt in advance of the project: new benches and dining options invite you to linger. The renovated fountain also creates a pleasant atmosphere. The last evening of the event is celebrated with a large closing event, which is accompanied by music and thus offers a crowning conclusion to this unique cultural project.
