A lot is happening in the vibrant football business! Bayer Leverkusen has its eye on the talent from VfL Bochum. The young Cajetan Lenz (19) is currently on everyone's lips. The “WAZ” reports that the Werkself are focusing on the Bochum player, who has turned out to be one of the positive surprises this season. Lenz, a regular in the starting line-up, has held his own despite various coaching changes at VfL Bochum and celebrated his first goal in the game against Eintracht Braunschweig (2-0) on the last matchday. His contract runs until 2029, making him a solid investment.
But Leverkusen is not the only club interested in Lenz. Other top clubs in Germany also have the young midfielder on their radar. Coach Uwe Rösler has a high opinion of him and will do everything he can to keep him in Bochum.
New loan deals from Leverkusen
In addition to Lenz, VfL Bochum was able to sign another player from Leverkusen. 18-year-old Francis Onyeka is moving to the 2nd Bundesliga on a one-year loan deal. Bochum's sports director Dirk Dufner sees Onyeka as one of the most talented players of his year. Having recently been with Leverkusen's A youth team in the German championship final against 1. FC Köln, he remains a promising talent in the Bochum squad.
Leverkusen also gives Onyeka the opportunity to strengthen his future prospects with a contract until June 30, 2028. Onyeka was already scheduled for the Bundesliga team last season, but he hasn't played yet. But here too, moving to Bochum could open up new opportunities!
Talents in focus
Ibrahim Maza's (19) test at Bayer Leverkusen also caused a stir. Coach Kasper Hjulmand tested Maza in a test phase that ended in an impressive 6-0 win for the Werkself against 1. FC Heidenheim. Maza has shown himself to be a promising talent and could be an interesting option for Leverkusen's future.
