Hradecky leaves Leverkusen: move to AS Monaco sealed!

After seven successful years, Finnish goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is leaving Bayer 04 Leverkusen and moving to AS Monaco. Since his move from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018, Hradecky has been the undisputed number 1 in Leverkusen's defense. During this time he played an impressive 286 competitive games and became the third most frequently played goalkeeper in the club's history. He kept 86 games without conceding a goal and shone in his performances, which helped the club significantly to reach the DFB Cup and the championship in the 2024/2025 season. Hradecky was grateful for the support of the fans after the double successful conclusion of last season, in which Leverkusen won both the championship trophy and the cup under coach Xabi Alonso. “I want to establish myself as number one in Monaco and continue to play in the Champions League,” said the goalkeeper, who has now signed a two-year contract with AS Monaco. The transfer fee for his transfer is estimated at around 4 million euros. Bundesliga.com highlights that...

The end of an era

Hradecky was appointed club captain of Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and crowned his time at the traditional club with various records, including a streak of 54 games unbeaten between May 2023 and March 2025. This streak earned him the respect and admiration of fans and experts, and was just two games shy of surpassing Jérôme Boateng's record. Now, after these great years, the talented goalkeeper, who also won the DFB Cup during this time, will leave Leverkusen behind. Transfermarkt shows the development of goalkeepers statistically.

There remains an empty position in Leverkusen's goal, which the club quickly knew how to fill. In this context, Janis Blaswich, the previous keeper at RB Leipzig, was signed. Blaswich, 34 years old and trained at Borussia Mönchengladbach, was most recently on loan at Red Bull Salzburg. The club agreed on a base fee of 2 million euros, plus possible bonus payments of up to one million euros. Given the change and the new competitor, Hradecky initially wanted to compete with Mark Flekken, who was also newly signed, but the offer from Monaco ultimately prevailed.

Leverkusen will start the new season under coach Erik ten Hag in the DFB Cup against Sonnenhof Großaspach on August 15th and will play their first Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim on August 23rd. With a breath of fresh air and new faces, the club hopes to pick up where it last left off.
