Free swimming courses in Kirchhellen: Children swim safely!

Bottrop-Kirchhellen will once again be a hotspot for little water lovers in the coming summer holidays. Between July 14th and August 8th, free swimming courses for children are on the program, which take place in a converted shipping container. This container, filled with 25,000 liters of water, is equipped with showers, changing rooms and toilets to provide the little swimmers with a comfortable environment. Registration for the coveted places has already started and demand promises to be high.

Last year the container had already made waves because the 120 available course places were quickly filled. The success of the initiative shows that there is still a large gap in swimming training for children in Gladbeck, Bottrop and Gelsenkirchen. The collaboration between the Sportif initiative, the Bottrop Sports Association, the city of Bottrop and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has also proven successful and ensures that the children not only become safer in the water, but also have fun doing it.

The training offer

What exactly awaits the little swimmers? At the SVG Bottrop swimming school there are two types of courses on the curriculum: the basic course “Blubber-Blitz” and the advanced course. While the basic course reduces fear of water and teaches basic skills, children can learn how to swim properly in the advanced course. The content of the basic course includes playful elements such as jumping from the edge of the pool, surfacing independently, submerging and sliding.

Here the children not only get used to the element of water, but they also acquire important skills that they will need for future swimming. If they participate successfully, they will receive the “Blubber-Blitz” certificate, a sign of their progress and success. Successful swimmers can then take part in an advanced course dedicated to freestyle swimming and backstroke. For many children, this will be the first step towards comprehensive swimming training.

Early water habituation is crucial

In addition, experts such as the DLRG emphasize the importance of early acclimatization to water. Children should be introduced to water in a playful way from a young age. This often occurs in everyday situations, be it in the bathtub, shower or during special baby swimming courses. It is essential to do this under supervision to avoid fear of water.

There is a particular warning against the use of unsafe swimming aids. These can lead to a false habituation and give children a feeling of security that would not exist in an emergency. It is all the more important that access to professional swimming courses like those in Bottrop-Kirchhellen is secured.

In summary: If you want your child to learn to swim safely, you shouldn't miss the chance to take part in the free swimming courses. Registration should be done as quickly as possible because places are in high demand and the summer holidays are fast approaching. Cast off and get into the water!
