Tragic accident drama in Stukenbrock: Toddler dies in hospital
It's a sad day for the family from Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock. On Saturday evening, a serious accident occurred on the A33 motorway, which had tragic consequences for the family. A 34-year-old father tried to change lanes while driving and overlooked a car coming from behind. This led to a serious collision in which the family's vehicle overturned. Tragically, his two-year-old daughter was critically injured in the accident and died in the hospital that same night, as WDR reports.
In this accident, the father's 26-year-old partner was also seriously injured, while her other two children, a six-year-old girl and the deceased girl's two-year-old twin sister, also sustained injuries. The driver of the other car involved, a 24-year-old, was uninjured. The accident meant that the motorway had to be closed for several hours while a traffic accident team from Münster and an expert were called in to clarify the circumstances. The road in the direction of Osnabrück was only reopened shortly after midnight.
Another accident causes chaos
While the nation is still mourning the horrific accident, another incident occurred on the same highway the following Monday morning. A 24-year-old truck driver drove his 40-ton truck off the road for reasons that are still unclear and stopped on the guardrail. According to Westfalen Blatt, the truck was loaded with six tons of cotton swabs and fortunately there were no injuries in this incident.
The right lane was closed from 5:30 a.m. due to the truck accident, resulting in a massive traffic jam of at least seven kilometers. Drivers were advised to avoid the motorway at the Bielefeld intersection as they faced a delay of up to an hour. But the necessary diversion also caused long traffic jams in the urban areas of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock and Hövelhof.
