Magical reading with David Kramm: Secrets from The Jarlesplitter”!
What's new in the world of fantasy literature? On Thursday, July 3rd, author David Kramm will give his reading from the urban fantasy novel “The Jarlesplitter” in Mettmann. This event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and entry is free, but registration is required at www.bibfriends.me necessary. Kramm, who was born in Haan and now lives in Wülfrath, will delight his audience with an exciting mix of readings, stories and finger magic tricks. His debut novel is about Monty Schuster, a magically gifted carpenter who sets out on an unexpected research trip and is confronted with magical phenomena.
During his reading in Wülfrath as part of the “Wülfrath reads and listens” festival on April 14th, Kramm was able to inspire the audience with his Cologne charm and humor. The WIR House was filled to capacity as Monty's adventures unfolded before the eyes of the audience. In his story, Monty not only creates magic wands and enchanted musical instruments, but also encounters a variety of magical creatures that underline the local Cologne color. The reactions were consistently positive; Kramm described the reading as a milestone in his career.
A debut full of creativity
The idea for “The Jarlesplitter” came about during the Corona period when Kramm wanted to visit the library. He not only wanted to give his characters an exciting life, but also a visual identity, which is why he drew the illustrations himself. This contributes to the unique atmosphere of his story, which is sure to make the hearts of many fantasy fans beat faster. The anticipation is great, because the second volume of Monty's magical journey is already being planned and is scheduled to appear next year.
In addition to readings from his own work, other literary events also take place. For example, the Solingen author Saga Grünwald will read from her thriller “Spurlos im Bergisches Land” on April 24th at 7 p.m. in the Niederbergisches Museum in Wülfrath. Tickets for these and other readings are available via the city of Wülfrath's events calendar.
The fascination of urban fantasy
David Kramm's work is not the only one that delights fans of urban fantasy. The genre area is currently experiencing an upswing, with many new and exciting titles that are arousing the interest of readers. An example of this is "Spiegelstadt. Tears of Gold and Silver" by Christian Handel and Andreas Suchanek, a romantic-queer fantasy duet set in a magical Berlin in the 1920s. It is a story full of intrigue, love and fantastic elements that enrich the genre.
Both Kramm and his literary colleagues show that the world of urban fantasy is lively and complex. Whether at a reading or in the pages of a book, the imagination has no hold and offers readers a gateway to new worlds.
It remains exciting to see what July will bring us when David Kramm takes his listeners into the magical world of “The Jarlesplitter”. What is certain is that the event should be a fixed date in every fantasy lover's calendar.
