Mettmann's Tim Torn Teutenberg nominated for Felix Award as Sportsman of the Year!
A reason to be happy for cycling in North Rhine-Westphalia: Tim Torn Teutenberg from Mettmann was nominated for the renowned “felix award”. The campaign, which has stood for outstanding sporting achievements in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2007, is offered by the State Sports Association of North Rhine-Westphalia and the state. Mayor Sandra Pietschmann insisted on receiving Teutenberg in the town hall to personally congratulate him and enter him in the city's Golden Book. Click here to the article from Supertipp.
Teutenberg has achieved truly extraordinary things this year. At the 2023 European Track Cycling Championships in Heusden-Zolder, he secured two gold medals and one silver medal, making him the most successful German participant in the European Championships. This represents just one part of an already impressive year. Super tip highlights that 2024 can be seen as one of the most successful years of Teutenberg's career.
Olympic Games and World Cup
In August 2024, the Mettmanner competed for Team Germany at the Olympic Games in Paris. This high-profile event represented the highlight of his career to date. After the Games, Teutenberg achieved brilliant results at the Track Cycling World Championships in Copenhagen at the end of October 2024. He won the bronze medal in the team pursuit and, together with Roger Kluge, became world champion in the two-man team event.
Unfortunately, Teutenberg had to cancel his participation in the 2025 World Cup as his team's other commitments took priority. It is all the more pleasing that his sister, Lea Lin Teutenberg, took part in the World Championships in Chile and took a respectable sixth place in three disciplines.
Voted athlete of the year
Voting for this year’s “Felix Award” runs until November 9th. Mayor Pietschmann is keeping her fingers crossed for Teutenberg that he can win the election for athlete of the year in North Rhine-Westphalia. His outstanding performances this season would secure him a place in the history books of the sport. The athlete from Mettmann encourages his followers to vote diligently for him and thus support his dream.
Let's hope that Tim Torn Teutenberg ultimately receives the recognition he deserves for his remarkable achievements. It will remain exciting in the next few days! If you would like to find out more about the vote and the nominees, you can read about it in the article from Supertipp.
