A brief word about Saint Peter

Speaking of famous people, the name Peter is also found in the annals of history as Saint Peter, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. Born Simon bar Yonah, he can be considered an important representative of the early Christian Church. According to traditional understanding, he was the first bishop of Rome and lived an eventful life that ended with his crucifixion in Rome under Emperor Nero, where, it is said, he was even crucified upside down because he considered himself unworthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.

His importance as an apostle and leader is undeniable, and he is revered in all Christian denominations that recognize saints. Although Peter is often described as impulsive in the Gospels, he played a central role in the spread of Christianity. He is often depicted with the keys of heaven, symbolizing his authority and leadership.

The combination of art and spirituality creates an interesting parallel between the works of Peter Staechelin and the life of Saint Peter. Both represent a deep search for truth and expression - be it through colors and shapes or through faith and conviction in everyday life.

Today's event not only offers the opportunity to engage with Staechelin's concrete art, but also to catch a glimpse of the historical figure of Saint Peter. Anyone interested in art and history should not miss this event.
