Kreativ Kids: With wishes for a child-friendly Mülheim!

World Children's Day on September 20th is just around the corner and will be celebrated in Mülheim an der Ruhr with two exciting events. The motto this year is “Children’s Rights – Building Blocks for Democracy”. This issue deserves attention - after all, children and their rights are the basis for a democratic future.

On Saturday, September 20th, families and especially children of primary school age are warmly invited to express their wishes and ideas for Mülheim. The campaign is organized by “Kreativ Kids”, a family network in Heißen under the direction of Pflege Behmenburg. The little ones can get creative in the neighborhood house at Hingbergstrasse 311 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participate and create

The children have the opportunity to design “building block” templates (DIN A4) on which they can present their ideas for a child-friendly Germany. These contributions are collected and a banner is created from them, which is later presented to the press and politicians. Of course, parents are also invited to support the little artists. Home-baked muffins and refreshing drinks ensure your physical well-being. Registration is not required, so just come along and join in!

At the same time, a large family festival will take place in the MüGa Park from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., organized by the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr and Mülheimer Stadtmarketing und Tourismus GmbH (MST). Here the children can enjoy numerous activities: from giant bubbles to glitter tattoos to treasure fishing. A bouncy castle and face painting are also on the program.

Games and fun in MüGa Park

The family festival also offers musical entertainment and numerous hands-on activities. Various organizations and associations are on site to provide information and little surprises for the children. Meals include delicious waffles, grilled sausages and a selection of refreshing drinks.

The nationwide initiative for World Children's Day is supported by UNICEF Germany and the German Children's Fund. The goal: Children should know their rights and understand democracy better. “Children and young people who know their rights understand democracy better and can get actively involved,” explains the initiative. In this sense, a strong signal for the rights of the youngest is also being sent in Mülheim.

World Children's Day is being celebrated in this country for the 71st time. The events not only provide entertainment, but also contribute to raising awareness of the rights of children and young people - an important topic that should have a greater influence in political decisions.
