Sommersend 2025: Fun, Ferris wheel and tradition on Schlossplatz!
There is news from Münster! From July 17th to 21st, 2025, Schlossplatz will be transformed into the stage for the popular Sommersend, a festival that combines local tradition with a pinch of modernity. This year, the organizers of ANTENNE MÜNSTER are expecting around 250,000 visitors and expect the event, which takes place on the 32,000 m² festival site, to feature various attractions and culinary offerings. You can look forward to lots of rides, delicious snacks and unexpected surprises.
A highlight of the event will be the renamed ANTENNE MÜNSTER Ferris wheel, which overlooks the Schlossplatz. There are also exciting activities such as duck fishing, where special ANTENNE MÜNSTER ducks provide special prizes, and a free lottery ticket that creates excitement with noises. Anyone who is there during the opening ceremony on Thursday from 2 p.m. cannot miss the live broadcast by Malena & Tino, who will bring the Schlossplatz to life. Participation in many activities takes place via WhatsApp voice messages, which provides a breath of fresh air in the traditional atmosphere.
Family-friendly promotions and discounts
A special attraction will be Family Day on Thursday, where visitors can enjoy up to 30% off the rides and 25% off the main items at the stalls. Anyone who loves sweet temptations will also get their money's worth with Malena and Tino's crepes: there's a euro discount per crepe. On Friday evening, the summer evening is rounded off with a traditional fireworks display at 10:30 p.m., a true feast for the senses.
The culinary selection also leaves nothing to be desired: in addition to bratwurst and crepes, roasted almonds and many other snacks are also available. Over 150 showmen enrich the festival mile with handmade items and fairground goods, so that there is something for every visitor, young and old.
Tradition meets modernity
The Send's roots date back to the 9th century and embody a market tradition that can be traced back to the 11th century. An important symbol is the sending sword, which has been anchored at the town hall since 1578. The return of the original sending sword, which was stolen a few years ago, will be rewarded with a reward of 1,000 euros and a stroll pass - a call to support the city's cultural history!
Traveling to the festival site is recommended by public transport, with bus connections that run every five minutes from the main train station. Parking options are limited for drivers, so cycling is also encouraged as a pleasant alternative.
Sommersend is not just an event to celebrate – it also brings community and joy together in the city. Whether duck fishing together or enjoying a freshly prepared crepe, everyone is sure to have a reason to be happy here.
