Three new A stamps: Visionary projects for the future of the Oberberg!

What is happening in Cologne and the surrounding area? Recently, the Regional 2025 Steering Committee announced great progress by approving seven A-status projects, as well as three B-status projects and one C-status project. These decisions should make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the region. The focus is particularly on innovative approaches to resource sharing and improving the quality of life for all citizens.

A highlight among the approved projects is the “in.return” project by the Innovation Hub Bergisches RheinLand in cooperation with the TH Cologne. This is about creating a sustainable sharing economy in the region. The aim is to promote an exchange of resources, knowledge and cooperation between small and medium-sized companies. Aspects such as artificial intelligence and the sharing of factory infrastructure are at the top of the agenda oberberg-aktuell.de reported.

Sustainable projects in focus

The “WärmeEngel” project is also impressive. Here the Oberbergischer Kreis, the BAV and the TH Köln work together to use excess waste heat from combined heat and power plants in mobile heat storage. The waste heat is to be transported to the Dieringhausen vocational college and fed into its heating system. Evaluating the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of this system is also an important goal of the project.

Another exciting project is “Bergisch Balance”. This project unites the Oberbergischer Kreis with the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis as well as the Naturarena Bergisches Land. The well-being of the residents is supported by the development of a holistic health landscape in the climatic health resorts of Eckenhagen and Nümbrecht. A project aimed at improving quality of life and health is exactly what the region needs.

Urban development and cultural highlights

Not only does sustainable development play a role, urban development is also a top priority. A striking example is the “Off to New Shores” project in Wipperfürth, which aims to further develop the city center in the Wupper area. In addition, a former brownfield site in the Wiehler Seequartier will be converted into modern office and residential buildings, which will have a lasting impact on the cityscape. C status was awarded for the “Mobile Village Meeting for Osberghausen” project, which underlines the importance and possibilities of this initiative.

Another highlight will be the opening of the KulturForumBurscheid on November 15, 2025. The former Haus der Kunst is receiving a new face and concept in order to become a central location for cultural events and community interaction. All citizens are warmly invited to the open day. In addition to a colorful program with music, theater and regional contributions, there are also numerous hands-on activities and guided tours of the new house. The KulturForumBurscheid is part of the REGIONALE 2025 project and promises to be an open house for cultural diversity - a real mosaic for the region, as well as on regional2025.de is to be experienced.

In fact, promoting sustainable development in line with the UN 2030 Agenda is also part of these projects. The agenda, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals, aims to improve people's well-being and protect the environment. Sustainable development thus becomes the key to the future direction of the region, as the United Nations has advocated since its founding in 1945. A look at the UN's comprehensive goals shows how important these approaches are for a fair and sustainable society unric.org can be read.

With these exciting projects, the region is not only keeping up with the challenges of the times, but also shows that a good hand for the future is already in demand today. So it remains exciting to see what the next steps will bring.
