Moonlight swimming in Engelskirchen: 1,400 visitors party until late into the night!
On Saturday, August 12th, the Panoramabad Engelskirchen was transformed into a lively party zone. The starting signal for the moonlight swim, which took place for the 15th time this year, was given at 6 p.m. In wonderful weather, around 1,400 visitors from all over the region flocked to have fun in the refreshing water and enjoy the festive atmosphere. DJ Chris created the right atmosphere with current hits and timeless classics and kept the revelers dancing until late at night.
The event not only offered the opportunity to spend a relaxing evening with friends, family or neighbors, but was also a successful opportunity to celebrate summer. The impressive lighting of the swimming pool and the clever use of fog added to the festive appeal of the evening. Cool drinks and snacks from the buffet or grill rounded off the offering. The event was organized by the Förderverein Freibad Engelskirchen e.V. and the Engelskirchen municipal works, which were supported by the hard work of over 60 helpers.
A highlight in the events calendar
Matthias Haas, the chairman of the support association, emphasized the great voluntary commitment in his remarks. “It’s great to see so many people working together to put on an event like this,” he said. The helpers worked in different areas such as the checkout area, sales stands, technology and lifeguards to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The visitors were consistently enthusiastic about the family atmosphere and the great music. “Moonlight swimming is a tradition for us that is now an integral part of the summer season,” reported one of the participants. It is not surprising that the anticipation for a new edition next year can already be felt.
Volunteer events in the region
Events like the Moonlight Swim not only contribute to the community, but also provide valuable experience in event organization. According to [sieben-viertel.de](https://sieben-viertel.de/ehrenamt/kulturarbeit-und- Veranstaltungsorganisation/), such events are a great opportunity to get involved and test your own skills in planning and implementation. In addition to the moonlight swimming, other events take place in the region, including the popular Wiesenviertel festival, which attracts around 10,000 visitors annually.
These festivals show the unifying power of volunteer work and cultural events, creating a space in which the community can come together. The moonlight swim has established itself as a highlight in the event calendar and is highly valued by community interest groups.
The successes of the past few years give hope that the next Moonlight Swim will be just as successful as this year's event. Until then, we can only hope that many citizens in the region also feel encouraged to actively shape cultural life.
