A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday afternoon in Berlin-Mitte, where a 50-year-old motorcyclist was injured. As Tixio reports, the incident occurred around 3:25 p.m. at the intersection of Stresemannstrasse and Potsdamer Platz. The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the impact and suffered head and torso injuries. He had to be hospitalized.
The accident occurred when a 58-year-old truck driver wanted to turn left at the intersection in question towards Potsdamer Platz/Gabriele-Tergit-Promenade. He collided with the oncoming motorcyclist, who was thrown over the handlebars by the force of the impact and crashed into a lamppost. His motorcycle came to rest about 15 meters behind the impact site. Fortunately, the truck driver was uninjured.
Investigations are ongoing
The Berlin police have commissioned a traffic offenses department from Police Directorate 2 (West) to investigate in order to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. The accident is being carefully analyzed by the authorities to identify possible causes. According to Berlin.de, based on current knowledge there is no danger to the life of the injured motorcyclist.
