Successful integration: Migrants get started in their professional lives!

A ray of hope for many new immigrants: the CJD's BOFplus course on career orientation for refugees and migrants has successfully closed its doors. During the course, participants were not only able to polish their language skills, but also acquire valuable practical specialist knowledge. A pleasing proportion of the graduates have now found work in local companies, which shows that the program has found fertile ground. LokalPlus reports.

The course relied heavily on improving German language skills and testing professional skills in training workshops. Internships not only gave participants an insight into the world of work, but also made a significant contribution to career orientation. The majority of participants have found a follow-up opportunity in the form of training, retraining or entry-level qualifications. Christiane Hesse, the project manager, emphasized the relevance of preparing people with a migration background for the German labor market.

Preparations for the next course

For everyone who has now gotten a taste for it: The next BOFplus course starts in September. Preparations for this are already in full swing. Those interested can look forward to a program funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The BOFplus program will continue until the end of 2027 and offers courses for practical testing of various professions in vocational training centers.

An important part of the program is the introduction of an orientation phase that allows participants to test their suitability for the BOFplus course. The program also offers the opportunity to try out up to five careers and offers the prospect of more intensive collaboration with job centers and employment agencies. What requirements do you have to meet? All immigrants who have completed compulsory schooling, generally have German language skills at level B1 and have access to the job market are allowed to apply. There are no age restrictions, which makes participation particularly attractive.

Accompanying measures and support

Another advantage of the program is the personal support throughout the entire course. This support ranges from help with appointments with authorities to childcare offers. Participants can look forward to a comprehensive program that also includes application training. At the end of each course, participants receive a certificate of completion of the knowledge and skills they have acquired.

The professional integration of migrants is important not only for those affected, but also for society as a whole. The education server provides various materials and information on the recognition of qualifications as well as training and employment opportunities. These resources are critical to ensuring that both the economic and social benefits of diversity are recognized and promoted in our labor market.
