Art and culture: Youth culture night delights Attendorn with graffiti!
On September 27, 2025, the city of Attendorn presented itself as a unique location for this year's Youth Culture Night. An event that is celebrated nationwide in North Rhine-Westphalia and is also characterized by an impressive diversity of young culture - from art to music to dance and theater. The Hoesch Halls became the center of this creative explosion, and the focus was on a large-scale graffiti campaign by the Attendorn youth center, which captivated everyone involved. The Sauerland courier reports that a team of talented young artists and professional sprayers worked on this impressive work of art for several weeks.
The project entitled “Zukunftsquartier Wassertor” was led by the two artists Maxi Skiba and Noah Block. Under the motto “Future,” the participants contributed creative ideas, and each letter of the word received its own meaningful message: Z for together, U for environment, K for culture, U for the Attendorn coat of arms, N for nature, F for peace and T for technology. The first sketches were made on September 13th, and on September 26th, experts prepared the large graffiti picture, before 20 graffiti artists from cities such as Hamburg, Bielefeld, Münster, Cologne and Lüdenscheid showed off their talents on the decisive day - together with enthusiastic young people and hobby sprayers.
An afternoon full of art and music
The event was accompanied musically by DJs Felix and Till, who ensured a good atmosphere throughout the entire event. Two lifting platforms and a crane even enabled the artists to spray up to the roof of the halls and thus...
to make the overall picture even more impressive. And so the night ended not only with a great work of art, but also with a concert by the band “Teleluke and Melchior” in the courtyard of the Hoesch Halls, followed by a rousing DJ session. Participants expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm for the event, and thanks especially went to the young people, artists, sponsors and supporters of the project. This youth culture night went down in Attendorn's history books as an unforgettable experience - a real testament to the positive impact of youth culture and community power.
As part of the nationwide youth culture night, which takes place in over 300 events in a total of 95 cities, it's not just Attendorn residents who get their money's worth. In other cities, a colorful program is offered, ranging from graffiti campaigns and dance battles to workshops and concerts. As stated in the report n-tv As mentioned, DJ workshops and improv theater are taking place in Dortmund, while in Düsseldorf the young people are putting together a particularly dense program with 16 attractions.
A call to help shape the future
With this event, the Attendorn Youth Center struck a chord with young people locally. They were given the opportunity to actively shape their city - an opportunity that was supported primarily by funding from the cultural office. Interested young people could register to take part in the activities by email and thus become part of this unique project. The first steps have already been implemented on the walls of the Hoeschhallen - from September 12th to 14th and again on September 26th to 27th, before the final accent was set on the big day.
The Youth Culture Night is not only a platform for creative development, but also a strong signal of the strength that lies in the community of young people. These positive experiences are important and ensure the continued existence of such projects in the region - a reason to look forward to future activities of this kind. This not only benefits young people, but also society as a whole. To ensure that the future remains colorful, everyone should make their contribution and show a good knack for creative and cultural projects.
