Things are currently very busy in Attendorn: the popular shooting festival will be celebrated from July 4th to 7th, 2025, and preparations are in full swing. The pageant took place on Saturday, July 5, which fully reflected the festive atmosphere of the city. The shooting festival program includes many highlights that attract citizens and guests. The festival started on July 4th with a concert by the Lichtringhausen Music Association, followed by a serenade at the town hall and a beer tasting in the Schützenpark, where the “Harmonie Sound Orchestra” of the MV Dünschede provided atmospheric sounds. This event marks the start of a long series of celebrations that bring the city to life.
Festival program and highlights
The program was well packed: On Saturday afternoon, the participants gathered at various points in the city before the star march on the Old Market at 2:50 p.m. The ceremony took place here at 4 p.m., followed by an honorary memorial service at the town hall. A special highlight was the bird shooting by the young riflemen, which took place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the proclamation of the new young rifleman king, which took place at 7:30 p.m. in the Schützenpark. The evening was rounded off with live music from “D.C.K Coverband” in Schützenpark until 11:45 p.m.
The following Sunday, early risers were able to enjoy a 6:00 a.m. wake-up call at the Old Market. A high mass at 8:30 a.m. in the St. Johannes Baptist Church, musically accompanied by the brass instruments of the Frenkhausen Music Association and the women's choir Cäcilia “Donne Cantanti”, was the highlight of the morning.
