Record participants in the Airport Run: 2,100 runners conquer the slopes!
The eleventh Airport Run took place at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport on November 3, 2025, and the event could not be more successful. A new record was set with over 2,100 runners, which impressively demonstrates the enthusiasm for this event. The run led (!) over the airport's impressive runway, a highlight that further motivated the athletes.
In the spirit of “every step counts,” the mood at the airport was euphoric. The Markötter run over ten kilometers, which was the heart of the event, already had 934 participants before the registration deadline and was therefore sold out. In the men's race, Tobias Herrmann from Endspurt Running Team secured victory with a time of 34:09 minutes, while his teammate Tim Wagner took second place just a few seconds later with 34:15 minutes. The talented Jonas Orfgen from TriCity Paderborn came third in 34:30 minutes. The competition was also fiercely competitive among the women: Laura Stuhldreyer came first with 39:30 minutes, followed by Manuela Koch (39:50 minutes) and Theresa Weber (40:20 minutes).
The FMG Flight School Run and the Lidl Kids Run
But it wasn't just the main run that attracted the crowds. The FMG flight school run over five kilometers was also a success with 661 participants. Here Maurice Hoinkis was pleased to win the men's race with 18:51 minutes, followed by Patrick Jazwiec (Laufladen Endspurt Running Team) and Julian Rieksneuwöhner. In the women's race, Verena Henze from Warburger SV won the race in 22:32 minutes.
Participation in the Lidl Kids Run was particularly pleasing, with 548 participants attracting almost twice as many children as the previous year. The Paderborn district provided the most participants with a total of 28 employees. Birthday children were honored in every competition, including Magdalena Louisa Katz in the Lidl Kids Run and Mareike Sell in the Markötter Run. There were also prominent faces at the start: airport supervisory board chairman Christoph Rüther and several mayors from the surrounding communities provided additional highlights.
A positive conclusion from the airport
Roland Hüser, Managing Director of Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport, was very positive about the high popularity of the event. “We would like to thank the sponsors and the organizational team for their excellent work,” said Hüser. The event not only demonstrates the importance of running events to the region, but also the airport's role as an important location for events and community engagement.
Airports like Paderborn/Lippstadt are not only hubs for air traffic, but also important places for local events that bring people together and promote sport. Such events not only promote health, they also strengthen community building. The Airport Run has once again shown that the joy of running is very popular in the region!
