Recklinghausen shines: drone show and sea of lights until November 9th!
The traditional light festival “Recklinghausen shines” is currently taking place in the heart of Recklinghausen. From October 24th to November 9th, 2025, the city will shine in an impressive light show every day. The festive lights can be experienced every evening from 6pm to 9pm, with a spectacular projection at the town hall that captivates visitors. There was a special highlight for all technology enthusiasts on October 25th at 8 p.m.: an exclusive drone show that made the night sky light up, like Ruhr24 reported.
The so-called terrace glow gives the festival a special charm. On October 25th, guests will gather in the church square where free drinks and snacks will be provided. The Westphalia Philharmonic will bring a musical note on October 26th in the Propsteikirche St. Peter, where they will perform short concerts. As if that weren't enough, visitors can take part in free city tours, which can be booked at the Westenergie Counter on the town hall square.
Photo competition and closing event
Another highlight is the photo competition, which runs until November 11th. Participants can submit a maximum of three photos for the chance to win attractive prizes: 750 euros for first place, 500 euros for second and 250 euros for third place. There is also the opportunity for twelve excellent photos to be printed in the 2026 annual calendar.
The events culminate in a shopping Sunday on November 9th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by another drone show that is the culmination of the festival. The city is easy to reach by car and public transport: over 20 bus lines and the night express lines take visitors comfortably to the city center.
