Recklinghausen shines: Festival of lights full of highlights until November 9th!

What's new in Recklinghausen? The city is currently shining with light and cordially invites all visitors to take part in one of the diverse events. The “Recklinghausen shines” event will take place from October 24th to November 9th, 2025, with an impressive light show at the town hall every evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The organizers are particularly proud of the exclusive drone show on October 25th, which will light up the night at 8 p.m. Another highlight of the day is the “Terrace Glow” on the church square, where visitors can treat themselves to free drinks and snacks.

Music lovers will get their money's worth on October 26th, when the Westphalia Philharmonic, under the direction of Rasmus Baumann, gives entertaining concerts in the St. Peter's Propsteikirche. There are also free city tours for anyone who would like to find out more about the city, which you can register for at the Westenergie Counter on the town hall square.

Looking for creative minds

And for the photographers among us: Pictures can be submitted to the photo competition until November 11th. In total there is prize money of up to 750 euros, with the best twelve photos also being immortalized in an annual calendar for 2026. A great chance to showcase your art!

Getting to Recklinghausen is uncomplicated. Drivers can arrive via the A43 from the north and south and the A2 from the east and west. Parking spaces are available free of charge from 4 p.m., for example at the Saalbau/Dorstener Straße car park (P10) or at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz (P11). If you prefer to use public transport, you can choose from over 20 bus lines and Night Express lines that lead directly to the city center.

Comedy on campus

But that's not all! This Friday, October 31st, there will be a comedy evening at 8:00 p.m. at the Recklinghausen Campus of the Westphalian University. Organized by Campus meets Comedy, the event is moderated by comedienne and musical actress Laura Brümmer. She is supported by Kai Magnus Sting, a humor hero from Duisburg, and Johannes Schröder, who learned comedy in Toronto and has now won numerous awards. Ingrid Kühne rounds off the line-up and brings humorous stories from her family life.

The “Andersmacher Comedy Raffle” provides entertainment during the breaks, where two tickets for a show in the Rudolf Weber Arena in Oberhausen are raffled off. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and seating is free.

Anyone who is interested in the multifunctional event landscape in Recklinghausen should not miss these opportunities. Whether it's a light and drone show or a comedy night - there's something for everyone here.
