Röntgenlauf 2025: Sporting event of the year delights Remscheid!

The 23rd X-ray run took place in Remscheid on October 26, 2025, a highlight for running enthusiasts and amateur runners alike. With almost 1,000 registrations, the event was already in high demand even before it started. This meant a large turnout for the organizers, as the expected number of participants was between 3,000 and 3,500 runners. The mix of distances from 5 kilometers to an ultra trail over 63 kilometers ensured that there was something for every taste. There were also new merchandising items that could be purchased at the marathon fair stands, both for participants and for all running enthusiasts. The registration period ended on October 19th, with the possibility of late registration on site, but with an additional fee.

This year it wasn't just the running events that were given a stage. Special features such as surprising photo points at historical locations and atmospheric stations with music and commentary created a great atmosphere. Bernd Fiedler, a key figure behind the event and founding father of the Röntgenlauf, was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his over 50 years of volunteer work. This gave the whole event a particularly celebratory setting.

The program of the X-ray run

The extensive program of the X-ray run included several distances:

  • 5 Kilometer Sprint
  • 10 Kilometer Strecke mit Anstiegen und Singletrails
  • Halbmarathon
  • Marathon (42,195 Kilometer)
  • Ultratrail (63 Kilometer)

The routes not only presented sporting challenges, but also offered the opportunity to actively explore the surrounding area. As a runner or spectator you get your money's worth, because the varied route and the atmosphere surrounding the event are unique.

Running culture in Germany

Marathons and running are very popular in Germany. According to Statista, almost 48,000 runners took part in marathon events in 2025 and over 121 marathons were held throughout the year. The big events like the Berlin Marathon or the Hamburg Marathon shine, but smaller events like the X-ray run are also becoming increasingly important. For many, running becomes a passion; Around 45 percent of Germans said that they enjoy jogging. A large proportion of the population (37 percent) runs at least once a week.

The results of the X-ray run will be released shortly, including the men's and women's rankings. It will therefore be exciting to see how the participants fared on the various distances and what the event could offer. To build anticipation, a report on the event will also be published after the race and all information will be available on the HDSports website. Those interested can also find out more about the X-ray run on the Röntgenlauf website and find out about the general statistics for marathons in Germany on Statista. In the end, the X-ray run is not only a sporting challenge, but also a celebration for the entire running community.
