Stadtwerke Bad Kreuznach: Special meeting clarifies Nath's successor!

Today, on July 10, 2025, a special meeting of the city council will be held between closed doors in Bad Kreuznach. This is about the upcoming change at the top of Stadtwerke Bad Kreuznach (SWK), with the focus being on Christoph Nath. The city council only received official notification of Nath's move to the city of Remscheid on June 30, 2025, where he has been working as managing director since June 26, 2025. This raised a number of questions about transparency and communication between the city leadership and the city council, as Antenne KH reports.

Filling key positions in the city turned out to be problematic. Members of the Finance Committee pushed for a quick clarification of the issue, which led to the announcement of a special meeting on August 5, 2025. This meeting was intended to terminate the managing director's contract and result in the election of a new management. The invitation to today's meeting was sent out on July 2nd, but there were some irritations here too. Initially no decision was announced, later the decision was made to hold part of it privately. The premature appointment of Klaus-Dieter Dreesbach as interim managing director also caused confusion as to whether this was done in agreement with the city.

The city council and the successor

As the Rhein-Zeitung reports, the topic of today's meeting is not only the departure of Christoph Nath, but also the successor at the top of the SWK and the holding company BGK (Gesellschaft für Beteiligungen and parking in Bad Kreuznach mbH). Originally, consultation was only planned after the summer break. But the urgency of the issue forced quick action.

Mayor Emanuel Letz (FDP) and Mayor Thomas Blechschmidt (CDU), who are both heads of the SWK and BGK supervisory boards, have the responsibility to ensure clarity. An increasingly critical look is directed at the selection process for Nath's successor, which Mayor Blechschmidt would like to present on August 28, 2025. It will be interesting to see what solutions and strategies will come into play to defuse the situation and restore trust in the municipal utilities.
