Rain? Doesn't matter! Over 4,200 people celebrate the biggest 90s party in Elsdorf!
The “We love the 90’s” party in Elsdorf caused a sensation again this year. On June 14, 2025, over 4,200 visitors gathered in the large parking lot at the festival hall and celebrated with a summery beach backdrop. Despite a rain shower that started late in the evening, the guests didn't let their mood be spoiled and continued dancing to the sounds of the 90s and 2000s. The event, which is now established as the largest 90s party in the Rhein-Erft district, lasted almost eight hours and offered a comprehensive range of entertainment.
The event was organized by Niklas Wolff and Robert Wassenberg from the city's cultural department. You can say that they have a good hand for such events - the party was a complete success for the fourth year in a row, and the number of participants shows that the event is very popular with people. Robert Wassenberg also described the “We love the 90’s” party as his “absolute baby” and emphasized that there were no costs for the city of Elsdorf because the event was financed by sponsors.
A feast for the senses
The atmosphere on site was unique. The summer flair was underlined with a sandy beach and deck chairs for a relaxation break. A large DJ stage ensured a good mood and was flanked by an impressive light show, which impressed with a four meter high light traverse. Guests also had the opportunity to refresh themselves with a wide range of drinks at various bars, including “2Good” and “Gin de Cologne”. From cocktails to Kölsch to soft drinks – there was something for every taste.
The culinary offering was also impressive: pizza, currywurst, kebabs, crepes and cookies were very popular with the celebrants. The event not only took place in the open air, but also brought a bit of nostalgia to the region.
Thanks to the community
Mayor Heller addressed the guests and the local cooperation associations that contributed to the implementation of the event with words of thanks. The many sponsors, including well-known companies such as Volksbank Erft, westenergie, RWE and REWE Grundhöfer, made an important contribution to the reception and success of the festival.
The musical roots of festivals go back a long way, but the concept of parties like “We love the 90’s” shows how this tradition has developed into a modern form that promotes a sense of community and joy in music. Music festivals have proven themselves as platforms for self-expression and social movements, and so this event is also an expression of the cultural identity that was shaped by the 90s. In times of digital change and sustainability efforts, such events remain indispensable contact points for experiences and a sense of community in today's world.
The energy level at the “We love the 90’s” party was overwhelming and it will be exciting to see what the organizers plan for next year. One thing is certain: the 90s live on and with them the pleasure they brought with them.
