Digitalization in the healthcare system: One million hygiene instructions achieved!

Digitalization in healthcare has taken a leap forward during the Corona pandemic. A particularly positive example of this is the online hygiene instruction, which was developed through the cooperation of over 140 health authorities and the Glehn Technology Center. This is reported by the Rhine district Neuss. At a time when the need for hygiene instructions is increasing, it is clear how efficient digital solutions are.

The online instruction, which is mandatory for people working with perishable foods in accordance with Sections 42 and 43 of the Infection Protection Act, recently reached its major milestone: the one millionth television session was held. This shift from face-to-face events to digital formats was driven not only by necessity during the pandemic, but also by the commitment of the Glehn Technology Center, which has been working on the development of audiovisual modules since 2018.

Advantages of online instruction

The digital platform allows participants to easily complete the instruction from different locations - be it in a hotel elevator or by the pool. The e-learning program offers learning videos, fact sheets and finally test questions. Participants have the opportunity to learn at their own pace and complete the acquired knowledge with a certificate. Additionally, the online solution has the advantage of being available in 26 languages, including easy language and sign language, allowing for wider participation, such as digital platform health department highlights.

“Digitalization is not just a trend, but a must,” emphasize the managing directors of tzg, Raimund Franzen and Benjamin Josephs. In addition, individual support is offered to make access easier for foreign citizens, people with disabilities and seniors. All of these measures relieve the health authorities of personnel and also support the administrative processes in doctors' practices and pharmacies.

Challenges and opportunities in healthcare

However, the healthcare system also faces numerous challenges, including the shortage of skilled workers and the increasing number of age-related diseases, which make treatment more complex. As in an article on PMC is addressed, digital support is required to relieve the burden on health services. E-health applications are intended to help improve patient care and optimize processes in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

All developments in this area require a high level of interoperability and data protection, especially due to the requirements of the GDPR. Current studies show that progress in digital healthcare is becoming more and more important and should be viewed as a basis for future projects regarding better healthcare in Germany.

In summary, digitalization in healthcare not only promises greater efficiency, but also opens up new avenues of support for patients and medical staff. The online hygiene instructions are a prime example of successful digital transformation.
