Invitation to the Open Day” in the Siegen district center on July 5th!
It opens on Saturday, July 5, 2025 Siegen district center from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. its doors to all interested citizens. On this special day, the merger of the Siegen and Wittgenstein districts, which happened exactly 50 years ago, is celebrated. Back then, on January 1, 1975, the “Siegen-Wittgenstein district” was created, which brought together the two old districts, but without the Wittgenstein hilltop villages. These were allocated to the Hochsauerlandkreis instead.
The event is hosted by the Siegen-Wittgenstein district administration organized, which is planning numerous activities and surprises together with the Stamp Friends Association Netphen e.V. A special highlight is the event-related special stamp that the Deutsche Post Philately event team will bring with them. This allows visitors to frank their postcards and letters in a very special way.
A framework full of possibilities
Guests can look forward not only to a wealth of information about the history of the district, but also to free postcards and stamps, which are offered while stocks last. There is also an exclusive special stamp “800 Years of the City of Siegen”, which is available at the event team’s stand. At the Stamp Friends Netphen stand you will also be provided with free blank decorative envelopes in DIN C6 format, while honorary chairman Wilfried Lerchstein has specially designed three “Individual Stamps” for the district anniversary.
The special thing about it is that the 95 cent stamps and the Plusbrief Individual are sold before and after the “Open Day”. Anyone interested can send their orders to Wilfried Lerchstein at Lercwi@web.de Send or contact us by phone at 02737/1216. Orders will be processed in the order in which they are received after payment has been received. More detailed information can also be found online at suedwestfalenboerse.de.
A look into the future of administration
While the “Open Day” celebrates the past, District Administrator Andreas Müller is planning a comprehensive reorganization of the district administration, which is to be implemented on September 1, 2025. The aim is to avoid fragmentation of tasks and to optimize collaboration between the different areas. Müller has already held discussions with the respective department heads and specialist service managers in order to gain a comprehensive overview of the district's needs.
As a result of these changes, responsibilities within the administration are being restructured. District director Frank Bender will be responsible for regional planning and the cadastre in Dekernate I. Helmut Kneppe takes over responsibility for schools and education in Department II, while Wolfgang Suttner heads the culture department. The complete reorganization is intended to help minimize frictional losses in the administrative process and increase efficiency, as shown suedwestfalen-nachrichten.de is reported.
The “Open Day” is therefore not only a look back at the history of the district, but also an outlook on modern developments in administration. Definitely worth a visit!
