Erndtebrück on the move: Wind power project brings truck traffic to the village!

The wind power project in Erndtebrück is gaining momentum. Today, August 15, 2025, the next step in the implementation of the plan to build wind turbines in the municipality came. As the Siegerland newspaper reported, the civil engineering work in the Kilbe/Gutes Wasser area has already been largely completed and the delivery of building materials, in particular concrete for the foundations, has begun. This leads to increased truck traffic, which causes concern among residents.

Mayor Steffen Haschke expressed his concerns in an open conversation, particularly with regard to truck traffic on Viehweg and Eisenstraße. In order to minimize the burden on residents, the Westfalen-Wind company has already taken measures to reroute truck routes and inform drivers accordingly. However, the community itself benefits significantly from the wind power project, as 0.4 cents per kilowatt hour generated is expected to be donated to the “ Unser Erndtebrück ” future foundation after it is put into operation.

Impact on the community

The Erndtebrück project could bring a lot financially. The income of around 1 million euros per year is intended to support charitable projects in the community and over the planned operating period of 20 years, the total income for the Future Foundation and the community treasury could be at least 30 million euros. A positive step that promises the community not only new income, but also a sustainable energy supply through the construction of a total of ten wind turbines in the Kilbe/Gutes Wasser area and a further seven in the Hermeskopf area. Each of these systems, of the Enercon E-175 type, has a hub height of 162 meters and a nominal output of around 6 megawatts, which means that one system can supply around 4,500 households with energy.

Westfalen-Wind is optimistic about the construction progress and is on schedule. The foundation work in the Hermeskopf area is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. Despite the tensions caused by increased traffic and construction, the community has highlighted the need and importance of the project during discussions.

Corruption and challenges in other communities

A look beyond Erndtebrück's borders shows that not everything is going smoothly CNN Brasil reported. In São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, several politicians, including Council President Danilo Lima Ramos, were deposed by the judiciary following allegations of bribery and corruption. This development raises questions about the integrity of the political landscape as Erndtebrück focuses on successfully advancing wind power projection.

The challenges facing other communities could serve as a warning signal for those responsible in Erndtebrück. It remains to be seen how well the cooperation between the various players in the wind power project will work and whether the financially profitable project can actually keep its promises without having negative effects on the population.

In conclusion, it can be said that the wind power project pursues several goals: environmental protection, income for the community and future-oriented energy production. The fact that this is happening especially in challenging times of corruption and political hardship is a ray of hope that not only the people of Erndtebrücker, but also the entire region should keep an eye on.
