Big football event for young people: Prevention in focus at Giersberg!

The new year is just around the corner and with it a traditional highlight for the region: On January 3rd and 4th, 2026, the 32nd anti-drug indoor soccer tournament will take place as part of “Zoff dem Stoff”. On these days, the triple sports hall on Siegen's Giersberg will be the venue where young talents from the D and C youth compete against each other and at the same time important topics relating to drug prevention and media literacy are discussed. The popular series of events is organized by FC Eiserfeld, AOK NordWest and the Siegen-Wittgenstein district police authority, all of whom work together to educate young people.

The focus of the event is particularly on drug prevention for C-juniors (12 to 14 years old) and the dangers of digital life for D-juniors (11 to 12 years old). Andreas Müller, the district administrator of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, took over the patronage. It will start at 9:30 a.m. on both days and numerous young teams from German professional leagues are waiting to show off their skills. A total of 13 D-junior teams will play for the title of the 6th Anti-Cyber Indoor Football Tournament, which will take place on the first two days of January.

Focus on prevention

The event is not only about sport, but also has a clear preventative mission. Drug consumption, alcohol abuse and the dangers of the digital world are discussed in workshops and information offerings. The AOK NordWest and the district police authority offer valuable opportunities for education about drugs and media literacy. Drug prevention aims to prevent the consumption of psychoactive substances and to counteract existing problems. According to the Federal Ministry of Health, a three-stage prevention concept is being pursued that includes both universal and selective approaches.

Particular attention is paid to primary prevention, which aims to avoid drug and addiction problems. Targeted information campaigns and workshops are intended to raise awareness among young people about the risks associated with drug and media consumption. Young people are a central target here, as it is at this age that decisions are made that can have far-reaching consequences.

A day full of action and information

A highlight of this event is the anti-cyber tournament, which explicitly deals with the challenges of digital life. Topics such as fake news, hate speech and cybergrooming are addressed to show young people how they can move safely in the digital world. Information and schedules are below zoffdemstoff.fceiserfeld.de and available on FC Eiserfeld’s social channels. Visitors can view the live results of the tournament via the Fußball.de platform.

The organizers are already looking forward to the numerous visitors who are expected on the first weekend in January and hope that the combination of sporting competition and important educational work will have a lasting effect on the young people taking part.
