Bull's Eye shines in shatterproof glasses at the All Saints' Fair!
When the All Saints' Fair is coming up in Soest, one thing shouldn't be missing: the cult drink “Bullenauge”. This year, the Northoff distillery is setting new standards with shatterproof glasses that present the popular drink safely and stylishly. Since its creation in the 1960s, the charming history of the bull's eye has been firmly established in the city, and the anticipation for this year's fair is already palpable.
The roots of the bull's eye go back to the building committee meeting in 1964, where a mocha liqueur was combined with cream to create a completely new taste experience. The creation is not only popular among the locals, but has also gained many fans beyond the city limits. “We are proud of our cult drink and are looking forward to the fair,” says an employee at the distillery. Production began in August in order to be prepared for the high demand during the fair season. Last year sales were particularly high, so much so that additional production had to be carried out.
New glasses for old traditions
Traditionally, the bull's eye was served in delicate shot glasses, but these often broke and broke. Therefore, this year we switched to the more robust “Stamper Mannheim” glasses, which are intended to benefit the drinking experience. These new glasses were even printed in collaboration with a supplier from Paderborn to preserve the tradition of the bull's eye while avoiding breakage. This means fewer glasses are lost during the happy celebrations.
The alcohol content of the bull's eye remains unchanged at 25 percent. There are no plans to adjust the recipe, which underlines the loyalty to the origins of the drink. In the 1980s, the Northoff distillery came into play and, in collaboration with the Hellweg dairy, developed an individual recipe that is still a secret today and is protected by patent.
The city of Soest: an experience in itself
Anyone who comes to Soest for the All Saints' Fair can not only indulge in the bull's eye, but also discover the beautiful old town with its green sandstone buildings and cozy alleys. “Soest is a beautiful city that has many stories to tell,” says Werner Tigges, an experienced city guide. Whether for families, friends or colleagues, the city tours offer a deep insight into Soest's history, from the archbishop to the seesaws and washerwomen who bring the past to life.
In 90 minutes, participants are led through the streets and learn more about the charming corners of the city that almost every Cologne resident should visit at least once.
