Violence at the All Saints' Fair: knife attack and robbery shake Soest!

The All Saints' Fair in Soest, one of the largest folk festivals in the region, caused a stir on Friday evening, November 8th, 2025. While the afternoon was peaceful, a few violent confrontations and a robbery brought the police to the scene. At around 8:40 p.m., the police were called to a fight on the fairgrounds involving eleven people. A knife was used, resulting in a minor cut injury to one person involved. Despite the deployment of security forces, events continued to develop over the course of the evening. At around 10:15 p.m. an armed robbery of an 18-year-old occurred on “Helle” Street. Cigarettes, a wristwatch and a bus ticket were stolen from the victim. The perpetrators, three unknown young people between the ages of 16 and 17, threatened the victim with a knife and kicked him in the face before they were able to escape undetected.

Investigations and Security

The police immediately started an investigation into the incidents. She is looking for possible witnesses who can provide information about the identity of the young people. In particular, the description, which points to darkly dressed, southern European-looking perpetrators - one with short, gelled hair, the others with a boxer haircut - plays an important role here. The Soest district police authority asks you to call 02921/91000 if anyone has seen anything.

After the incidents, there was another argument between two men in Theodor-Heuss-Park around 1:15 a.m., with one trying to hit the other in the face with a beer glass. Expulsions were also issued here, and during checks the police seized narcotics and another knife.

Increased controls for security

Following these incidents, the police announced that there would be increased controls throughout the rest of the fair weekend to ensure the safety of visitors. Despite the overall abnormalities, which also included a small number of attacks, the police considered Friday evening to be mostly quiet until the operations changed the mood.

The All Saints' Fair attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year and is very popular in the region. However, the events of Friday evening show that special attention must be paid to public safety even at large celebrations. While the city and fair organizers work to ensure that the celebrations can continue, the hope remains that such incidents will not happen again.
