The LAZ Soest track and field athletes recently showed an impressive performance at the Westphalia Championships in Lage. Above all, Maja Bolinger, who secured the gold medal in the 100 meters and also won silver in the 200 meters. Their teammates around the talented athletes ensured that LAZ Soest was able to bring home a total of 15 medals, including five Westphalia championship titles. The club record of 13 championship wins from the previous year has already been surpassed, which underlines the remarkable potential of this committed sports team. According to that Soester Anzeiger Jonas Dorenkamp increased his performance in the pole vault in the U20 category and jumped over the four-meter mark for the first time with 4.01 meters.
However, the successes were not just limited to Dorenkamp. Nia Ferige from the W15 class won gold in the discus throw with an impressive throw of 32.23 meters. Mia Vollmer competed in the U20 and was able to secure gold in the shot put and silver in the high jump (1.62 meters). Moritz Langenscheidt, also U20, became Westphalia champion over 400 meters in a time of 50.83 seconds. Unfortunately, he missed the German championship standard by only 33 hundredths, just like the 4 x 100 meter relay, which finished runner-up in 43.85 seconds.

Maja Bolinger, who also won gold over 60 meters at the Westphalian Indoor Championships in Dortmund, has established herself as a serious athlete. Despite health difficulties before the championships, she decided to compete and achieved a personal best of 7.90 seconds in the heats.
