Chance” association in Lippborg: 4000 euros for children in Peru!
In Lippborg, the “Chance” association has taken another step towards sustainable help. At the last general meeting it was decided that the One World Shop would receive a generous donation of 4,000 euros to the association to support its projects. Cornelia Keßler, the committed chairwoman of the association, reported on the proceeds that were generated in the One World Shop thanks to the tireless efforts of 32 volunteers. This store is open three times a week and regularly runs special promotions to increase sales and offer fair products. This high level of volunteer commitment not only ensures sustainable financing, but also actively contributes to the promotion of development aid projects, which are a central concern of the association.
What projects are we talking about exactly? A main focus is on Peru, where the provision of school materials for children is supported, something that many families cannot afford for financial reasons. Contact with Peru was made through Fenja, Marion Beckord's daughter, who worked as a volunteer there. The “Chance” association, which has a Christian foundation, works intensively to strengthen indigenous communities and support them in preserving their resources.
Help for self-help in different countries
But the One World Shop in Lippborg is not alone in its missionary work. The Eine-Welt-Laden Rosbach e.V. is also strongly committed to international development projects. A fundraising campaign was launched there to support several projects in Ghana, Peru and Madagascar. A total of three donations of 500 euros each were given. In Ghana, producers in Bolgatanga, known for their traditional Bolga baskets, are benefiting from drilling wells and creating safe cooking areas. These measures aim to sustainably improve the living conditions of local people.
In Peru, work continues on two family businesses, the shoe workshop and the weaving mill. Here the funds go towards improving production conditions by purchasing windows, doors and roofs for traditional hiking boots. Madagascar, in turn, received the donation to Mobile Hilfe Madagaskar e.V. (MHM e.V.), which supports a health center that offers essential services such as obstetrics, dentistry and mobile emergency assistance.
Sustainable development through economic cooperation
The projects supported by these one-world stores are in line with the principles of economic cooperation and development (WZ/EZ), as defined within the framework of ALLIANCE GERMANY. “Help for self-help” is very important here, because the goal is to promote sustainable development that creates humane living conditions. Good governance in WZ partner countries is also crucial to ensure successful development policies.
The commitment of these initiatives shows how important support from local actors is for international cooperation. This makes it clear that every purchase in the One World Store not only promotes fair products, but also actively contributes to development in countries such as Peru, Ghana and Madagascar. Even if the challenges are great, such as the acute needs of many people who urgently need help, such actions are a sign of hope and solidarity.
The doors are always open for anyone who would like to find out more about the activities of the One World Shop or volunteer. The diverse range of fairly traded products and the support of international aid make a valuable contribution to a fairer world.
