Ingo Klünner from TSV Solingen is crowned German triathlon champion!

Ingo Klünner has done it again! The triathlete from the Sauerland team in TSV Solingen secured the title in the M50 age group at the German Triathlon Championships. After a runner-up title last year, the athlete really turned up the heat with his coach Peter Sauerland's tactics. The plan was for Klünner not to take the lead after the swim - a strategy that turned out to be spot on.

Even small setbacks couldn't stop him. Although he had to serve a time penalty of 15 seconds due to a mishap in the transition area - he ran too far and opened his helmet too early - Klünner dominated on the running course and impressively outshone his competition.

Successful competition

At the title fights in Kalkar, as part of the Lower Rhine Triathlon, Klünner also showed his strength on the short distance. He crossed the finish line first with a time of 2:00:23 hours – a full minute faster than the next-place finisher. In the overall ranking he came in seventh place after 1.5 km swimming, 38 km cycling and 10 km running. Now he can not only call himself German champion, but is also NRW champion, as the competition took this into account. A real reason to be happy!

But what are the triathlon challenges in Germany in general?
