A good friend and a well-known face from Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) has passed away: Carlo von Tiedemann, who died on June 8, 2023 at the age of 81. The funeral service in honor of the popular presenter took place in Hamburg's Michel and attracted around 800 guests, including many celebrities from the media world such as Bettina Tietjen, Gerhard Delling and Tim Mälzer. The event was broadcast live on NDR television and was a moving farewell celebration for a man who captured the hearts of his listeners and viewers over many decades. This reports Antenna Unna.

The funeral service was filled with music and memories. Singer Mary Roos praised Tiedemann as an “original” and Bishop Kirsten Fehrs gave a touching speech in which she spoke about his approachability and his ability to reach people. A life full of ups and downs

Carlo von Tiedemann was born in Stargard in 1943 and came from a noble Prussian family. His childhood was shaped by his escape to Holstein at the end of 1944 during the Second World War. Before he started at NDR, he worked, among other things, as a newspaper reporter and South America correspondent. Since 1971 he has been a fixture on NDR, known for the “Aktuelle Schaubude” and other numerous radio programs such as “Hamburg am Mittag” as well as TV formats such as the “Deutsche Musikladen”.

Aside from his professional successes, Tiedemann also overcame some personal challenges. He struggled with drug affairs, gambling addiction and financial difficulties, through which his faith helped him. In the last phase of his life he suffered from health problems, which ultimately led to his death. His funeral took place in the immediate family circle, according to reports from his family Picture confirmed.

Carlo von Tiedemann not only leaves behind his family, but also a large fan base who remember the many beautiful moments he gave over the years. His liveliness and authenticity will be remembered and will certainly live on in the stories of his friends and companions.
