New shop Die Regalista” opens in Viersen thanks to funding!
On Saturday, November 29, 2025, a new store will open in Viersen, bringing a breath of fresh air to the city center. The opening is made possible by funding from the state aimed at preventing vacancies in city centers. This initiative is part of the “Sustainable inner cities and town centers in North Rhine-Westphalia” program, which was founded to support start-ups and expanding companies that want to rent empty or threatened shops. The funding program runs until the end of 2026 and ensures that the affected entrepreneurs receive an attractive rental rate, which is only 20 percent of the originally required rent for the maximum two-year funding period. Thanks to this support, Natascha Fußangel, who is starting her project “Die Regalista”, found a suitable shop at Hauptstrasse 17 and successfully applied for public funding. The city's city management helped her create a detailed business plan and put her in touch with economic development agencies.
The initiative is strongly supported by the city of Viersen and the city management. The landlord of the new store, Christoph Grundmann, is open to the funding program and has prepared the store in coordination with the city. This is not only a stroke of luck for Natascha Fußangel, but also benefits the entire city center, which becomes more lively through such commitments. The city management will remain at your side even after the opening and promote networking in the local business community and the clarification of administrative issues.
A contribution to maintaining lively inner cities
The “Sustainable City Centers and Centers” funding program aims to make city centers socially, culturally and economically attractive places. Over the last few years, the federal government has provided up to 250 million euros to help cities and municipalities further develop their inner cities. The program covers many areas that enrich daily life in the city: from retail and gastronomy to culture and education. Emphasis is also placed on the quality of public space in order to increase the quality of stay for all citizens.
In total, 217 cities and municipalities were supported in this context and dealt with strategies and concepts for the future of their inner cities. The initiative is very well received because it revitalizes the city centers and prepares them for the future. The city management in Viersen and the economic development agency are doing everything they can to make it easier for entrepreneurs to get started and to avoid vacancies.
The opening of “Die Regalista” is not only a new attraction for Viersen's city center, but also a further step towards a lively city that delights both locals and visitors with its offerings.
