Viersen celebrates: Student triumphs in the history competition!
A lot is happening in the heart of Viersen, and the local community can be proud of their talents and achievements. For example, Stella Peters, a student of the Erasmus von Rotterdam high school, was awarded on September 8th in the Haus der History in Bonn for her national victory in the history competition of the Federal President. Her impressive research is about her great -grandmother, an Italian migrant who operated ice cream parlors in Germany and was therefore economically successful. In her acceptance speech, Stella emphasized the courage and determination of her great -grandmother - an inspiring story that enriches not only her own family, but also German history.
Stella was supported by her teachers Björn Dexheimer and Stephan Plettscher, who were always at their side during the project. The importance of the district archive, which not only provided space but also valuable expertise, was also highlighted. Headmaster Hopp and teacher Plettscher promoted the Erasmus von Rotterdam high school, which has made a name for itself since its foundation in 1992 through numerous partnerships and competitions, and showed how important the promotion of young talent is.
History competition and challenges
The history competition of the Federal President, in which Stella shone, runs under the motto "Up to here and not further! With 2,289 work submitted, it has been the most successful round of competition in three decades, with many of the contributions addressing personal family stories and border experience. Last but not least, the competitive period is open until February 28, 2025, and the winners: Inside the national victory, the chance of federal prices that will be awarded in November 2025.
Stella is one of 250 talents who were awarded a national victory. This means that she can now continue to present her work at the federal level and shows how important it is to also appreciate her own legacy and history.
Sustainability also in the print shop
But not only the students: inside the city set signs. On September 3, the Printing of the district of Viersen was awarded the “Blue Angel” environmental label as the first administrative printing company in Germany. In total there are only 91 certified printers in Germany, which makes the award even more remarkable. Florian eighth, an employee of the print shop, emphasized the responsibility for sustainability and emphasized the importance of fulfilling the requirements of the environmental seal. The printing company thus sets standards for sustainable printing products in the administration and will proudly use the angel logo for its printed products.
In another light, health care in Viersen is illuminated. Every year in the general hospital in Viersen, registered nursing staff are invited, and nursing manager Nadine Lafontaine brought her congratulations to the new nurses. Fortunately, 90 percent of the graduates remain: inside in the hospital, which underlines the close accompaniment by the Academy for Health and Nursing Professions. It is an apprenticeship that extends over different areas, including outpatient services and senior institutions, and which is both practical and instructive.
In summary, it can be said that Viersen looks into the future with its large number of talents and future -oriented projects. Whether in historical science, in environmental protection or in healthcare: the city is innovative and committed to its community.
