Experience Warendorf's first tour of the Olympic Equestrian Committee!

The city of Warendorf has launched an exciting event and all equestrian sports enthusiasts should take advantage of the opportunity! On Saturday, June 28th, the first public tour of the German Olympic Equestrian Committee (DOKR) will take place. The tour starts at 4 p.m. in front of the Halla statue at the main entrance of the DOKR and lasts about 1.5 hours. Those interested pay 10 euros and can look forward to a comprehensive tour of the training facilities. The bell reports that information about the successes of German riders is also provided, including showcases showing significant achievements in equestrian sports. Registration is required at 02581/545454 or by email to tourismus@warendorf.de.

The DOKR, which was founded in 1913, is based in Warendorf and offers optimal conditions for dressage, jumping, eventing, driving, vaulting and reining. The organization is responsible for selecting riders and horses for international competitions and Olympic Games, and it promotes talented young riders in high-performance sports. The diverse tasks of the DOKR also include the appointment of squad members and the support of top athletes in the Bundeswehr. Horse Current emphasizes that the DOKR plays a crucial role in the development of young sports, especially in the disciplines of dressage, jumping and eventing.

A look into history

And if you think the whole thing is a new invention, you are very wrong! Equestrian sport has a long Olympic tradition, which began as early as 1896 with initial considerations for inclusion in the Olympic Games. The first tournaments were held in Paris in 1900 and the program has continued to evolve since then. There are a total of six equestrian competitions at the Olympic Games: an individual and a team competition in show jumping, dressage and eventing. Wikipedia reports on the various rule changes over the years, particularly aimed at allowing women access to these competitions and looking at animal welfare.

For Warendorf, this public tour is not only an opportunity to show off the DOKR's impressive facilities, but also an important contribution to promoting equestrian sport and the next generation of talented athletes. Over the years, the DOKR has repeatedly produced top athletes who have had the honor of representing Germany at the Olympic Games. The federal base in Warendorf, which has three riding halls and a variety of other training options, creates the best conditions so that talent can be optimally promoted.

So if you have time on June 28th, don't miss this unique opportunity! Equestrian sports thrive on passion and community, and where better to experience this than directly on site at DOKR? Let’s register!
