Renovation of roundabouts in Telgte: construction starts on July 21st!
The transport infrastructure in Telgte is being revamped! The Warendorf district has initiated the renovation of three roundabouts in the commercial area on Hans-Geiger-Straße (K17). Warendorf district reports that the work is scheduled to start on Monday, July 21st and is expected to last until Friday, August 22nd.
Why this renovation? The inner roundabouts of the affected traffic facilities have some damage that urgently needs to be repaired. The existing granite paving will be replaced with asphalt. The aim of this measure is to increase the longevity and ease of maintenance of the roundabouts and to improve the infrastructure for all road users.
Renovation process
The renovation work will be carried out in three construction phases:
- Bauabschnitt Kreisverkehr Daniel-Fahrenheit-Straße: 21. Juli bis 26. Juli
- Bauabschnitt Kreisverkehr August-Winkhaus-Straße: 28. Juli bis 15. August
- Bauabschnitt Kreisverkehr Melitta-Bentz-Straße inkl. Teilstück bis zur B51: 18. August bis 22. August
In order to accommodate residents on Melitta-Bentz-Straße, Daniel-Fahrenheit-Straße and August-Winkhaus-Straße, temporary access roads will be set up. However, road users are asked to observe the signposted detours and to show understanding for the resulting restrictions. Verkehrslage.de informed currently about the construction sites in the region.
Road safety in focus
The decision to implement roundabouts is not easy. Various aspects must be taken into account, including traffic, design and economic criteria. Trid.org highlights that traffic safety studies and the performance of the new junction also have to play a major role in conversions.
Among the advantages of a well-planned roundabout are turning options for vehicles, including bus traffic, and the connection of streets with different cross-sections. Additionally, structural evidence has shown that poorly designed intersections become significantly safer once converted into roundabouts and accidents can be reduced by up to 90%.
So let's accept the changes in Telgte positively and look forward to an improved traffic situation that will ultimately benefit everyone!
