Traffic chaos in Everswinkel: Car ends up in a ditch – driver injured!
A traffic accident on district road 19 in Raestrup kept rescue workers busy on Friday morning. At around 7 a.m., the driver of a car from Everswinkel left the road for unknown reasons. His vehicle went into the ditch, overturned and ended up resting on its left side. Fortunately, the driver was able to free himself and was treated on site by the rescue service and an emergency doctor from Telgte. He was then transported to the hospital in Warendorf for an examination. The fire department secured the scene of the accident, ensured fire protection and illuminated the area.
But it wasn't just this incident that caused excitement in the region. On the night of Friday, October 17th, another accident occurred on District Road 20 near Wieningen. A 19-year-old driver from Schönberg and a 16-year-old motorcyclist from Ostbever were involved. The driver had to brake sharply to avoid a collision with a crossing animal. The motorcyclist following then crashed into the car, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist and his 17-year-old pillion passenger. Both were taken to the hospital in Münster by ambulance, while the animal ran away unharmed.
Significant traffic disruptions
The closure of the K19 after the accident in Raestrup led to noticeable traffic delays, which were exacerbated by the morning rush hour. Traffic was temporarily diverted past the accident site in one lane, and the fire department supported the police in directing traffic. The accident vehicle was recovered after around two hours and the road was cleaned.
There is currently no information about the exact cause of the accident in Raestrup. The police are investigating and, as in the other case, are asking for information from witnesses. In the accident in Wieningen, the influence of the distances between vehicles during braking and the road conditions are also being examined.
Due to the frequency of such traffic accidents in the region, it is important that road users remain vigilant at all times to avoid accidents and serious consequences. The Warendorf police have started investigating to shed light on the two incidents.
