On Sunday, July 5th, 2025, it's that time again: the second cycling adventure day on the Lower Rhine is just around the corner! From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., cyclists are invited to discover the region on two wheels without having to register in advance. This event attracts both recreational cyclists and ambitious athletes due to its diversity.
A total of 99 routes extend across 56 cities and municipalities, which are located in both Germany and the Netherlands. All routes are easily accessible as a GPX track or as a PDF, so that everyone can put together their own personal timetable. In the Wesel district, 17 selected routes are waiting to be discovered by you; Most of them are based on the practical junction network, which is characterized by clear signage.
Highlights along the route
What could be better than enjoying nature and having a delicious meal? Many special experiences await participants along the routes. Mittelstrasse in Schermbeck is transformed into a lively summer street festival with colorful market activity, while in Dinslaken, local delicacies are offered at the French festival on the Altmarkt. Wesel district emphasizes that in Hamminkeln, a cheerful breakfast including a bread competition puts you in a good mood. If you prefer something a little more sociable, you can browse through the flea market in Voerde am Rhein or enjoy animal watching, coffee and cake in the Kolkshof Büdchen.
There are also five special kids tours for smaller cyclists, including an exciting loop around Hünxe and Schermbeck. Here children are invited to be active together with their families and to explore the surrounding area in a playful way.
Competitions and promotions
The event doesn't just have sporting aspects to offer. A large online competition provides additional motivation. Participants can win prizes such as a high-quality touring bike, vouchers for hotels and a NiederrheinCard. To take part in the competition, visitors can simply scan a QR code via the website or at special information points on the day of the event. Also not to be forgotten are the great rental options: over 30 stations on the Lower Rhine offer the so-called NiederrheinRäder, and e-bikes are also available to make the bike tour even more flexible and comfortable.

The routes are marked with numbers that are easy to remember, so that tourists can concentrate on the beautiful landscapes without getting lost in reading maps.
