Ginderich Schützenfest: Tradition meets thrills from July 5th to 7th!

The shooting festival in Ginderich is just around the corner and the anticipation in the small village is palpable. The St. Antonius Bachelor Rifle Brotherhood 1643 Ginderich e.V. will be hosting the festival from July 5th to 7th, 2025. Traditionally, the shooting festival takes place on the first weekend in July, and although in some years the date can also fall on the last weekend in June, it is firmly established in Ginderich to celebrate this festival with a colorful program. Lower Rhine News reports that the reign of the king, in this case the reigning bachelor royal couple Louis Rademacher and Jana Theußen, has lasted since 2023.

The festival begins on Saturday, July 5th, with a celebratory tattoo in honor of the outgoing royal couple. This is followed by the evening on the throne of the citizen shooter couple Jürgen and Angela Richter, which is accompanied musically by the band “Public Affair”. On Sunday things get really exciting: a children's program with a bouncy castle and balloon artist ensures a good mood before the highlight of the festival, the royal shooting competition, takes place. This is where the new royal couple will be determined, which everyone involved is looking forward to. Finally, on Monday there will be a festive conclusion with the women's prize shooting and the subsequent enthronement of the new royal couple, crowned by the gala royal ball with music from “Final Edition”. This special evening is another highlight that no one should miss.

Pure tradition and community spirit

The shooting festival has a special meaning in Ginderich. It's more than just a celebration; it brings the village community together and is heavily used by young and old. The shooting brotherhood website emphasizes that the response from the population is great. The event will feature a colorful program that appeals to every taste and reflects the long traditions of the shooting guild in Ginderich. Shooting festivals as such have a long history in Germany and were originally established in the shooting guilds of the Middle Ages Germany celebrates explained.

The rifle parade, which cannot be missed in Ginderich, is accompanied by the Ginderich marching band and the Vynen music club. The parade leads through the village and traditionally ends at Schützenplatz, where joy and conviviality await the visitors. The royal shooting, which is open to all official shooters aged 18 and over, ensures that the best shooter is allowed to wear the title of shooting king.
