Free Sport in the Park” starts: activity for all Wuppertal residents!

In Wuppertal, from July 7th to August 31st, 2025, there is once again an exciting initiative on the program that is intended to activate numerous citizens: “Sport in the Park”. This event is taking place in the city for the fourth time and promises a colorful offering for people of all ages. Organized by the Sportbildungswerk in collaboration with the Bergische Krankenkasse and various local sports clubs, the event will give citizens the opportunity to try out new sports free of charge and without obligation.

Particular attention is paid to the opening event, which will begin at the foot of the Elisenturm. Over the next eight weeks, participants can take part in a variety of activities, including line dancing, Tabata, interval training, self-defense, boules, yoga, canoeing and many other sports. Over 15 Wuppertal companies and 19 sports clubs are already on board and are inviting their employees and interested individuals to take part.

Diverse program for everyone

The “Sport im Park” program is designed to offer something for everyone. Activities are aimed at children, young people, adults and seniors. The focus is on fun, while at the same time promoting team spirit and strengthening health. Companies have the chance to compete for the title of “most active company”. Employees receive a stamp card, which they must hand in to their human resources department in order to receive confirmation of participation.

A very special incentive awaits the most active company: a health day could be organized as a prize, which provides an additional incentive for employees. According to WZ this could be a great way to strengthen the team spirit among colleagues and at the same time do something for your own fitness. A large number of employees have already shown interest, so the mood will certainly be at its peak.

Flexible participation

Participation in the activities is organized by the city and open to everyone, regardless of company size. Both small companies with eight to twelve employees and large corporations with up to 2,500 employees are invited. The entire program takes place in all weathers, so that the people of Wuppertal can take advantage of the sporting activities to ensure their health, even in changeable conditions.

For those interested in sports, the days are set aside for boules, Zumba and line dancing to ensure that everyone who wants to can actually take part. Information can be obtained from SSG Wuppertal 1863 e.V., where the exact times and locations of the respective events can also be found.

“Sport in the Park” not only strengthens the health of Wuppertal residents, but also promotes coexistence in the city. Take advantage of the opportunity to be active in the open air and make new acquaintances!
