Future of the district youth fire department: new leadership elected!
The Alzey-Worms district youth fire department is going through an exciting upheaval. At the current one Delegates meeting The members elected new leaders in a packed meeting room in order to sustainably strengthen youth work.
Patrick Hahn from the municipality of Alzey-Land will act as district youth fire chief in the future, supported by Norbert Barth from VG Wöllstein, who was elected as deputy. Both received the unanimous trust of those present - a clear confirmation of their abilities and visions. District Administrator Heiko Sippel officially appointed the new people responsible and focused on the importance of youth fire brigade work in order to promote young talent and secure the future of the volunteer fire brigades.
Special support for youth work
At this meeting, the district youth fire brigade received valuable support from state youth fire brigade warden Dirk Ströder and fire and disaster control inspector Michael Matthes. The latter praised the intensive work of the last few months and thus eliminated concerns about the future of the youth fire departments in the district.
“With a good hand in cooperation, we want to support young people even better,” explained Marco Gorn, chairman of the district fire brigade association, and underlined the need for close cooperation. Other positions that were filled by acclamation include Sven Riese as cashier and Desiree Eberhard as secretary, both from VG Wöllstein. The topic of equality also finds its place in the committee with the election of Thea Müller as equal opportunities officer.
Future-oriented developments in view
The assembly was characterized not only by elections, but also by a clear objective. A long-term goal is to ensure that every municipality in the district has a seat on the board. In order to achieve this, an amendment to the statutes will be decided at the next meeting. District Administrator Sippel emphasized the importance of competitions, as they demonstrate the young people's willingness to perform.
Of course, the department head for competitions remains vacant for the time being, but the new auditors, Michael Matthes and Jörg Schwabe, as well as the two assessors, Birgit Daum and Michael Bohland, provide a breath of fresh air and clear structures in the committee. Stephan Orlemann, another important player, described the day as a strong start to the future of the district youth fire department.
Youth activities and the challenges of tomorrow
Last year, a total of 84 young people were active in the youth fire department. The acceptance of the performance cord – the Youth Flame 1 – was recently successfully organized. Such activities are essential to provide young people with knowledge of firefighting technology, firefighting and human rescue. This training plays an essential role, as the German Youth Fire Department emphasizes: Long-term youth work ensures disaster protection and contributes to the stability of society.
With the realignment of the Alzey-Worms district youth fire department, a strong wind will blow through youth work. It will be exciting to see how the new structures and the committed work of those responsible will develop in the coming months. One thing is certain: the youth firefighters are more than ever a valuable part of the community and will become even more important in the coming years.
